I wasn't planning on it but I bought an Asus Z96J

I ordered a S96J from Gentech on the 28th of June. Apparently they got an order but it was not as much as they expected so when I called today (the day it was suppose to ship) I was told it would be another week. Then the man on the phone (didn't get his name but he seems to be the only one that answers) told me that the Z96J was in stock and he could ship one out tomorrow with my DVD drive and wi-Fi card shipped as parts (per my request).

I wasn't too excited about spending another $150 BUT I was having second thoughts about the low res screen the S96J was going to come with. So now I get a WSXGA 1680X1050 screen and bluetooth for $150. I'm almost happy that it worked out this way.

I bought everything else (minus laptop, dvd and wifi) from Newegg.com and the laptop will be equipped with the following:

    2gb OCZ PC4200 Ram
    80GB 5400 RPM Hitachi HD
    1.8GHz Core Duo processor

This machine will be used for gaming (specifically Counterstrike Source and WoW right now) and for homework. Now that I am working 12 hour night shifts in the NOC I should have plenty of time to enjoy it :)

I will post up my impressions of the machine when I get it. It's coming UPS ground from CA so my guess is I will have it by mid-end of next week. From what I understand it is exactly the same as the S96J (minus screen and bluetooth) so I probably won't post a whole review. We shall see.
