I have no idea what I need to run my W3J over there. I live in the boonies and my local Radioshack and Bestbuy were no help. They just had plug adapters.

    What do I need?

EDIT: Looking over the Radioshack website I found this. http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2062422 but there was no mention of that at my local RS.

Check your power brick first before you buy anything. It may already support 240V. If it does all you need are the plug adapters. Look for the input voltage.

I run my european Asus in the states at the moment just using a plug adapter.... The power supply is a world wide one, you don't need a step up transformer anymore. :)

Thanks, I didn't think to check that. Looks like all I'll need is the plug end adapter. Now All I need is to find my AA battery charger and see if it can work.

If it doesn't buy one over there it will cost less than the adapter to get it to work

Personally, I've never seen a notebook adaptor that doesn't support the 110 ~ 240 range. All you should need is a plug adaptor so your plug can fit into their socket.

The plug adapter which can be gotten for just a couple of bucks (or more expensive and dificult to find here in Europe) is all you need.

You may also buy (here) a power cable which is connected to your
AC notebook adapter and which has a European plug (you can get it on-line for 2-5 euro and for 10 euro in a big store).

By the way, the plugs used in Switzerland and UK are different from the European mainland plugs. However, there exist various "world/universal adapters" which are able to connect you to the AC socket in various countries. The expected price would be around 20$, I guess. Touristic shops may have them. If you are intended to bring several electical devices with you and will visit different countries, it may be useful to get this kind of adaptor.

Just one other thing I've picked up on my travels...

Take a multi plug extension cord with you, that way you only need to buy the one plug adapter and you can then run all your other electricals from that at the same time (as long as they have world adapters - like cellphones and cameras, etc).

Go to any electrical store in Europe and you can buy a cheap set of worldwide travel adapters. Europeans travel a lot, so they need them a lot. Buy a set of like 6 different ones and you'll be able to go anywhere except for South Africa!
