    Hi guys

Well I've owned my Sony Vaio FW for quite some time, I love its speed and somewhat solid design but it's by no means designed to leave ones desk in my opinion as its large and its ports are quite vulnerable to knocks and bangs, so I'm hoping it will last a fair while as a desktop replacement. :)

I was looking at the Asus EEE netbooks online, they're small and seem extraordinarily practical for web browsing and possibly even some light work.

I'm thinking along the lines of christmas I will buy one of them, are they worth it and do you think I would benefit from it?

    Thanks.

Netbooks are slow, you could get an 11.6" with a 32nm Intel or 45nm AMD processor for around the same price that would give you much more performance and a larger screen. Or maybe even a 12.1" UL20FT. But if you do get an EEE, get the 1015 or 1018 which have USB 3.0 ports.

I'm with jayayess1190, get the 1018p. Sure you're paying a high price but the aluminum casing dissipates heat really well (a problem with some netbooks) and also has the most recent atom processors on the market.

In Australia the going price is about $580-$599 depending on where you go but they're hard to find at the cheaper end of that scale (trust me I've been looking) but I think they are worth it.

Just a heads up regarding upcoming releases, there is meant to be a 1215 asus eeepc released either later on this year (december, santa anyone?) or early next year which may blow your mind (and your budget). I think its number is 1215 but it might be 1218 - check the forums.

All the best with your hunt.
