    Hi,

I was unsuccessful to get an answer for this question.

I'm going to buy a laptop for university and I will be carrying it around 3 times a day so it's good if it's light and has a small screen (portable.) Also, I enjoy gaming a lot abour 2hours a day minimum. And I enjoy watching movies. The screen size won't matter because I'll be using a desktop monitor when I watch movie and play games.

I was thinking of getting W7J, W3J or A8Jm but is there any good portable models for gaming? that is under 2000?

The Asus gaming value is hands-down the S96J/Z96J barebook. With the top-of-the-line ATI X1600 GPU, you can run all the latest games for about $1600 ($Canadian.) Check out MilestonePC.com for a good example of this laptop.

Gaming, small screen, and under 2000 are basically mutually exclusive concepts. The W7J is an excellent compromise here, with a 13.3" screen and NVidia Go 7400, and probably represents a better value than the W3J. The W3J, however, has an X1600 and is just plain cool.

If gaming is your thing then I would say the only choices are the A8J and W3J. Both are around 2kg and have decent gpu's, and ofter the best portability to performace ratio. It then just depends on your budget and if things like styling or a webcam are important to you.

hmm, well, what kind of games do you play, and what kind of settings are you comfortable with. Some games aren't too demanding and others are.

do you have a desktop too?

I would suggest the a8jm to be your best possible portable gaming laptop solution, because it nicely priced, comes with DVI, Dual Core, 7600 512mb and a 14" WXGA screen.

If you want something a little bigger, go with the S/Z96j, you can easily do a search on it to find a lot of info on these laptops. You can customize the specs and you still end up with a great price.
