Ok.... I figured before I forget I should probably make a post. I've got a few important things that I bet a lot of you would be interested in knowing.
1. The US is out of V6v's. We have stock, but that shouldn't last more than than a week. Mid-October is the next expected shipment. I've already confirmed that this October shipment is the SAME exact model and configuration. There's a shortage of super slim optical drives and apparently that's been the case since Mid-July when Asus recieved their last shipment.
2. The W5a's are in shortage as well for the same reason. We've got plenty here and Asus does have some, but the quantities there are under 100 units. The Black W5a is super rare and quantities are very limited on those. Asus said they are going to focus on the white models and no more black W5's will be ordered in. So this serves as a notice for anyone looking at a W5 if you don't get one now it could be a month and half before more come in,and especially a black W5..... when they're gone they're gone.
3. The S5a is basically done here in the US. Asus has been out of the S5 for a month now. We still have a handful if you're interested. The main S5a buyer has been the person who didn't want what the W5 had. However Asus wants to focus on the white W5a, so they decided not to order more S5a's in. They figure if people weren't given the choice, they'd go with the W5 anyway....... So only a few S5a's remain in all of north america..... get them while you can. It's still a new system and it'll still be offered around the world... just not in the US.
4. Anyone who ordered a Z71v right when they first came out (April)....... if you're having battery problems (not charging past say 40/50/60/70%) ..... you're not alone. We've seen a bunch of cases of problems and so has Asus. Asus is still testing to figure out if it could be a software problem, but I'm fairly certain Asus got a bad batch of batteries as it's only afflicted Z71v batteries bought in April. Asus is going to release a range of serial numbers that are affected and you'll be able to get those swapped out. Right now our inventory is too low to replace these batteries so Asus is getting more imported and will replace them under normal RMA conditions..... which means they are still going to be tested. We've already seen about 1/2 of the people who think they have a battery... mainly people who have seen posts about it before who have sent in their batteries to us and others and we've sent them to Asus. Asus has tested them and found out they charge and the customer either lied or just thought they weren't getting the battery life they wanted...... That's one of the main reasons Asus has been testing them because they want to only spend their time right now with batteries they know have a problem. Otherwise everyone and their brother who has a Z71v is going to claim they have a bad battery. As far as I've seen though..... not even all April systems have a problem...... I think it's limited to 1 of the first 2 shipments into the states.... The people I'd be concerned about would be those who pre-ordered them with us or maybe those who place an order in the first week after we recieved them in
