INPUT NEEDED: Asus U6S-X1

Hey Guys..... so ... I was shopping on Bestbuy.com and I came across the Asus u6s-x1 and i needed to know if this is a good system.

I know this isnt the correct place to put this post, but i want to now a few things and I figured what better than the actual owners??

I basically was an ultra portable, I just got a inspiron 1520 and now its time to get something small

1. Does it come with a 2 yr warranty/ 1 yr accidental even if i get it from bestbuy (since their website does not mention that) - I have to get this from them, I cannot go to newegg.com since my brother has a LOT of credit there, and we need to use.

2. How reliable is this system?? I Have never owned a computer by ASUS... I have always had Macs or HPs

3. Will the leather rub off or get disgusting as the laptop wears (I plan on owning this a min 1yr)

4. Battery life, I have heard the battery on this sucks, is it very diffcult to find aother battery for these?? I HAVE TO WATCH MOVIES WHEN I FLY

the warranty for bb models is different then retail
the system is very new and should be assumed reliable due to its very pleasing design
leather that rubs off will be under warranty but generally leather does tend to fade unless chemically treated which i assume this was. I would take a few years for this leather to fade
its aq 6 cell battery. battery life in vista typically sucks. 9 cells will be made available in the new year

 

So if i dont get it from a reseller, I will have to get a bestbuy warranty... that kinda blows... back to square one!! DANG

 

I would get it from a reseller, just cause you don't pay shipping and tax

what's the difference between the u6s-x1 and the u6s-a1?

 

Nothing, when it comes to specification. X1 models are exclusively at Best Buy, and comes only with 1 year Best Buy Warranty and not the Asus 2 Year/1Year Accidental Warranty.

 

i believe it is also missing a bag and bt mouse. i know the other bb skus are missing accessories so i asume this is too.

 

Not quite true on specs, I think - according to BB's site the X1 has slower processor, different wireless card and may/not have different video card, plus the warranty difference.

The Asus global/accidental warranty coverage alone probably makes up for the price difference and justifies skipping on BB's X1 IMO.
