It look like that my G50Vt has IR receiver, in Device Manager, there's a ITECIR Infrared Receiver (EC). How can I use it? I have never use IR so I don't know what to do. My cell phone supports IrDA, I want to try connecting it with my lappy. I also like to control my lappy with a TV/ DVD player remote controller, if it's possible.

You need software on the other end of that. Windows media center with a compatible windows media center remote should work. Your cell phone would need software to support it on the pc end like how palm os syncs with pc over irda.
Might be some apps for supporting general remotes for things though. -

I tried girder 5 and pc remote control 4 with no success. I tried with my Sony RM-954 remote controller. Girder don't receive and thing.

My next step would be to ask ken about it lol. Nah seriously I dont currently have anything to connect to it. I figure he may have tried something on atleast one asus model.

I really want to get it work. As second-hand TV remote controller here is very cheap, I can get one for 0.5-3USD. And maybe if it has enough room inside, I will mod it to include laser pointer

Hey did you hear about the led light thats next to the camera? Mynes blue i had the bezel off and when u turn the camera on there is a hidden light inside. Dark room turn ur camera on look under the silver peice left side.

I heard about it, but I see nothing on mine. I usually work in dark room (I'm tending to build a keyboard light myself), but everything is normal.
So I want to ask a little. The metal mesh above the keyboard is speakers. But around the camera there's also metal mesh. And on the frond side of the lappy, there're two small metal mesh. What do they do? -

I dont believe the front grills are for anything on the G50, could be wrong. The G70/71 however has the surround speakers there. The mesh around the camera probably doesnt do much, but u could claim its a vent

A vent for camera? You're kidding or everything made by ASUS could burn itself in a moment
. The front grills trick my cousin. He think that I got a laptop with surround speakers, haha. He also said that when playing game on my lappy, he got surround sound. But having heard about poor speakers of G50Vt, I don't believe that, just ask again.
So will you try to remotely control your G50Vt? If you got success, let me know (except your just going to computer store and buying a 50USD controller).

Not for the camera silly, you do know there is a screen in there. Note that tv's usually have top and back vents, the screen on your laptop has none? Makes a great decoration while letting out a tiny bit of expanding air?
The G50 sound system has the simulated surround like some tv's do works very well trippy things happened in Crysis.
Yeah as soon as i install some wheels im taking it to the RC car races. -

On instructables.com, there's a guide to convert your lappy into an automatic car. I say automatic because it can go on your specified path itself, calculate distance from objects to move around objects.

Ill add that to the list somewhere between write thread and write asus tool. Dam tool needs a name still.

I install Sony Ericsson PC Suite. It reported that I don't have IR. I search driver for ITECIR Infrared Receiver (EC) but there's nothing newer than ASUS's. Anyone tried to use that goddamn IR port on G50V(t)?
