I found that my friend want to sell a U3 $899.
I still do not know when he bought it
but do you think that is a good deal?
and Do I receive full warranty service?
(newegg.com, they sell new U3s 1299 +tax
and sell open-box U3s 984+tax)

I would find out how old it is,and what condition laptop is in.
Is it a good deal?
Guess that depends on how badly you want it -
If it's your friend, then there should be no problem with you giving the laptop a thorough testing before you buy: build (no cracks, major scuffs or scratches), screen (dead pixels), HDD (chkdsk and SMART testing), RAM tester -- memtest86+, some stability tests (Orthos Prime, a GPU tester -- 3DMark for instance but that's not oriented towards testing stability).
As to warranty:
There might be problems with your name being different from the name on the receipt. But if your friend is around he can help you in that case, too.
Usually though it's just a matter of the serial number being verified, and then they fix it without asking for too much information (when I asked whether the receipt should be in the package, they casually replied it would be a good idea -- but I got the feeling they would have fixed it regardless. -
ClearSkies Well no, I'm still here..
If everything works, $900 is probably a fair price (30% off list) for a 1yo system that sells new, albeit now out of production, for $1300.
