I'm sure this has already been asked, but i tried searching and couldn't find it.

If I buy an ensemble notebook from a dealer in California, but then I move to Maryland; do I send a broken laptop to Asus, to the dealer I bought it from, or do i send it to the nearest "preferred partner". (The last part there was in quotes, because I have to agree with Justin's rant just a bit.)

Ensemble units goes straight to ASUS I believe, only the Built On units are from the dealer.

That's correct, everything goes to Fremont, CA....... Now, technically we could help you with problems if you needed parts or had questions when you're local........ If you end up in Maryland and ever need something, drop me a line...... I still travel between here in NEPA and DC a lot and most of Maryland is always on my way...... that is if you need something from one fellow asus owner to another......... but for the most part, you're not going to need that help, trust me on that.
