I just received an igo juice 70 this week and want to give everyone a heads up on this product from igo. The igo ac adapter is rated at 65w vs. the W3J's 90w but igo recommends their juice 70 vs. the 130w so that's the one I bought. Does it work? Yes it works. However, it might take a week or two to charge the battery while the notebook is on. The igo seems to have just enough power to run the notebook and seems to charge the battery at about 1% every 20 minutes or so. I called igo to see if I could get the 130 instead and why they don't recommend the 130. Well, they don't recommend the 130 because they don't have a tip that will fit the Asus w3j! In addition, their customer service is abysmal and they seemed annoyed that I hadn't bought direct from them. This thing is going on ebay as soon as I get back from my trip.

Any idea if the HP tip is the same as that for the asus? When I look up the tip sizes on the igo website they list a different size for the HP than the asus...

I wanted to wait until I got my A8Js, another 90w Asus laptop, before I commented. I've had Juice adapters for previous laptops, and I like the fact that the adapter can charge both my phone and laptop, thereby not requiring me to keep my laptop on, just to charge my phone by USB port. (BTW, I'm seeing a lot of people at the airports with Juices..)

So when I decided to get the A8Js, I tried to see if my current 70 would work. As pointed out, there is a tip for the 70, that works on the Asus. It's tip S16. The problem is that there isn't enough power draw. You need at least a 90 watt adapter, otherwise it will take forever to charge your laptop batteries.

However other people on this forum have reported that the iGo adapter tip S3 also fits the Asus, even though the iGo product finder doesn't list it. So I ordered an S16 for my 70, and I ordered a Juice 130, which has enough power for the A8Js, and the S3 tip for it. So looking at both tips directly, it's an identical fit, the only difference is that the S3 is a bit longer than the S16, so it sticks out a little bit, as opposed to being flush. It actually works nice for providing a little bit more clearance if you have something plugged into the USB port.

So the bottom line for my A8Js, and I assume the W3 series as well, is that the iGo Juice 90 and 130, will provide enough power, and the only tip available for those adapters, that fits, is the S3. If you get either 90 or 130, the S3 tip is NOT included, so you have to order it separately, which is easiest done, at the iGo online store.

If this makes you nervous, using a power tip not supported by the adapter manufacturer, you should not get any iGo adapter, until they produce an S16 tip for the 90/130 adapters. Anyone who cares about this should also go to the iGo website and submit a web response and ask them to make an S16 tip for the 90/130 adapters.

If you don't want to go the expense of a Juice, then my suggestion would be to buy the Asus one, don't bother with trying to get a 90 watt adapter from another laptop manufacturer..

It'll run on 65w, but the battery will actually drain while in use... If the system tries to pull more power than that, it'll shut off.

The 65w and 90w tips that Asus uses anyway (70w for that matter), are all the same size...... and the computer will turn on..... As long as you don't put too much power to it, you won't phyiscally harm anything... but you don't want an under powered adapter for anything but a last minute emergency type of situation.

tips for iGo's also set voltages - so even if the tips fits it is not guaranteed to br correct voltage - Sony has two identical tips - one 16v and one 19.5v

This is true. However I tested with the current version of Battery Monitor, and both the stock Asus adapter, and the Juice with the S3 tip are charging my A8Js at the exact same voltage rate.

Again, if it makes you nervous, just use the stock adapters..
