Why does it take asus this long to figure out how much the W7J will cost? It does not seem hard to me to figure out the pricing of systems. It seems that they dont seem to care leaving people wondering for long periods of time what the price will be. We were deliberately lied to by proportable about the price and now asus is just deciding not to tell anyone. This does not seem appropriate from a company that is know for their high quality products.

Dont worry, you will know when the product is released.
In any case save up $2000, its not gonna be over that -
Its sad that a company cant even make a somewhat accurate price for their upcoming products. If what your saying is true then the estimated price will be at least $500 off the true price. Thats just pathetic and shows their lack of concern for their products and customers.

I dont quite get why it such a big deal for you, when the price is released its released, that simple. I would suggest emailing Asus your opinion, it really isnt going to get anywhere here.
-
Oh I understand it wont go anywhere. Im just saying that if its $500+ over what was told to us then thats inexcusable, thats all.

What he told us was a Preliminary price given by asus. But why does it matter, milestonepc offered it at $1499 and now it’s at $1549. This is about the price that was given. Get over it and buy it from someone else if you don’t like proportable business practices. This is the best way to get your point across to a retailer, don’t buy from them.
And if you read the posts about the turmoil at Asus it might take them a while before everything is settled, and again if you want to show your displeasure, don’t give them your money. Yelling at a reseller, thousands of miles away from the company and with no say in how they run there business won’t accomplish anything.
The amazing thing about an open market system, you vote with your dollar…
btw i think justin runs a fair business and is just protecting himself from a price change, he took no orders at that price so you didn't miss out on anything. -
Why are you whining. Asus has no obligation to give a price until the product is released. Which it isnt. its like gee how much is that imaginary car going to cost. Proportable gave you an estimated price. from a data sheet that was not a final copy. He didnt lie to you noone did. Just wait till its released. It will probably be around 1500-1700 if thats to much buy something else. Some people around here are so sensitive. Its the internet people.

I second what SRD has just said, whatever MilestonePC or Proportable are doing is to benefit the customer while not sacrificing themselfs, (atleast not intentionally).
ASUS does not have an official price, there were MANY speculations of the price here on the forums about the W7J, from 1500-2000$. Then a few resellers got into it. (its ok)
Now that it is somewhat available to the North American market, i've read a few resellers already got them, that's great, they are probably sold out. Once the other resellers get them then you'll have your chance, if you like the price.
Remember one key thing, if you expect one thing but when it's released it comes in another way, don't be too surprised, we've seen with the W2Jb, controversy of the Z70va, and etc.
Just be patient and everything will be sorted out in 1-2 weeks once all resellers have the W7J.
Thanks,

Fair enough, we will wait and see. Its just that I think Justin should have never given the 1499 price; he should have given a range. Because to me and probably most people if the price is 1999 or higher, we will not get it and be very disappointed.

Well lets just put it this way...."You cant make everyone happy." It's just business, nothing personal. Businesses are open to make profit, not loss. If the w7 doesnt fit the bill, you'll find something else. Yea, I'm pretty bum out about the possible change in price for the W7. We'll just wait and see.

PLEASE STFU!!!
If you want to ***** about something... please make sure it's significant.
1. The price was quoted by Asus
2. Justin/Proporatble provide members of this forum with the most current and accurate information they have. They told us the original price quoted by Asus and informed us the minute that price was changed by Asus.
3. The price is now almost identical to the original price quote.
PLEASE NOTE>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Whoever this newbie to the forums is, it's pretty obvious he's here on a personal vendetta against Proportable. Probably a competator who's business savy isn't good enough to compete on any other level.

Ooooooookay this thread is getting out of hand over a very simple question.
Mods, request close.

Mike, I dont know what STFU means. You seem all big and bad talking to me like that but I am directed this towards proportable. This is because they have a sticky with their advertisements on it and have the greatest presence in my opinion in these forums.
I in no way am directing anything towards you. I realize I am very upset and went way overboard but unless I start directing anything to you you shouldnt show it back to me. No one has to reply to my thread so if you dont like what I say dont say anything or dont show hate towards me. Its ironic that you try to act tough but use abbreviations and "*****". -
troll... you've lost all credability.
-
Im a newbie so I shouldnt have much credibility. I am simply expressing my views on the pricing of the W7J not saying anything about you. While I went way overboard, I only showed discontent towards proportable.
I really dont care much about my credibility. I said what I felt and dont seem to care if my credibility on a notebook forum web site is low. -
Im at a loss
