When I turn-off the screen on my G50VT X5 and display the image on an external Viewsonic monitor, images, such as the desktop background or open applications, still show through on the laptop's black screen, only very faded and darkened.

I configured the Viewsonic as my primary display and the laptop as the secondary. The laptop BIOS and drivers are completely stock. I've only updated Windows security items.

When I use the laptop display, the image is bright and very nice.

Do I have a serious problem?

I appreciate your help, as always.

    Thank you.

It sounds like the backlight is being disabled on your laptop monitor, but the screen is still being rendered. It shouldn't be a problem.

Try hitting Fn+F8 instead of Fn+F7
