Hi all
Does the G1S have the capability to throttle down things like the GFX performance in order to increase the battery life? I have heard of some laptops having this kind of feature.....
Thanks
Alex

If you push the little running man button along the top and choose battery saving mode, it should help increase battery life.

Heres a more detailed explanation.
To the OP.
Yes, most latpops actually clock down mainly the CPU to save battery and reduce heat output. It's called Intel Speedstep; it switches dynamically the speed of the CPU such that when the CPU is idle or with little load, it runs at a low speed that is enough for that load, but when more processing power is needed, the CPU kicks in and provides that power. This means you have better battery and less heat (and fan noise) without any noticeable reduction in performance.
Most Power4Gear profiles use IntelSpeedstep, with the exception of SuperPerformance and (on my laptop) Quiet Office. The first locks the CPU at max speed, the second to the lowest.
Even if you disable power4gear, your notebook will still use speedstep, it's the Windows default (provided drivers are installed correctly and there are no bugs)
About the GPU: it is possible, but mostly it has to be done manually. There are three profiles that can be selected from the GPU property page (in WinXP, Desktop Properties > Settings > Advanced > [GPU name]): Power Saving, Balanced, and MaxPerformance, themeanings of which are obvious.
