I absolutely love this notebook...everything about it...
EXCEPT...the processor...
It has a Pentium M 770 (2.13GHz).
The problem is that I need this notbook like NOW...but I need it to last about 4 years. The Intel Core Duo's have just been launched and I know AMD will be launching their Turion Mobile X2 (64 bit) processors soon. I have done lots of shopping around and have finnaly chosen this notebook...
Help me decide if I should buy this notebook tomorrow or wait for a new release of it...
Thanks in advance,
Ryan Sawyer

Well, if you need it now, then you need it now. There's nothing you can do within the time restraints.
And of course, if you can wait, then wait. This is just how technology is... -

W2j is 3-4 weeks away...... it'll be $200 more than the W2v..... the question is.. can you wait a month and spend another $200. If you can, you'll be set.
-
Suck it up and wait. The reason you should wait is that if you plan on using your laptop for 4 years the Core Duo will give you far better performance. Waiting 1 month for substantially better performance for 48 months is a no-brainer.

Don't worry...I can "suck it up and wait"...
I don't mind waiting up to a month...I don't think I can wait more than that though because I need a computer!!!
Anyways, will the W2J match the W2V's features? Does anyone have some resources or info on the new model coming out?
Thanks... -

... man, I hate to keep saying it, but do anyone try to look anything up for themselves? No offense to you personally, but far too many people that come to this forum expect to be babied... I know as a people, we American's are pretty lazy, but at some point just try a little bit.... if you can't find it after looking for 30 minutes... ok that's a decent try... but the information isn't far.
Even Asus' global site will give you "specs" and my news thread has the ordered configuration....... and the notebook looks identical and has basically the same identical features of the W2v..... so looking at pictures and so forth will let you see where the ports are and how many there are and where they are located. -
"No offense to you personally"...
Sure buddy...
Let me tell you that I have been researching for the perfect laptop for a couple of weeks now. I have looked at them all...online, and in-person and I have been using most of my VERY LITTLE free time to do so and to be quite honest I don't have any more to give up.
Which leads me to this site...
TWO days ago I learned that ASUS made laptops; I had no clue. ONE day ago I was researching and found reviews on the W2V and was very impressed.
Which leads me to this thread...
"Even Asus' global site will give you 'specs' and my news thread has the ordered configuration"
Sorry, but the W2J is not listed on their site so I had no clue. I don't care how closely related it is to the W2V...it is a different computer!
So let me end this with an apology to all those who had to suffer this thread. I came here for help...not because I'm LAZY, but because I'm quite the opposite and don't have time to look deep for this info. I am quite disappointed...
Thank you all for the help, even you PROPortable, much appreciation...

p.s. Don't worry, I won't be back to burden you guys any further... -
Way to be an ass to a potential customer.
"Even Asus' global site will give you 'specs' and my news thread has the ordered configuration"
The W2J is not listed on their site. You should know that, right? Way to be a forum nazi. -
Whoa, whoa, whoa chill out people. Just bad choice of words, I'm sure Justin didn't mean to be too forward with his post.
I agree with him to a certain extent. People ask very simple questions that they can find out on their own by googling or something like that and getting an immediate answer, but they come on forums and ask questions they can get answers to themselves very quickly.
Anyhoo' I say if the W2J is the same as the W2V, just updated, I say wait.
If you can't wait, what the hey, just get it. It's an awesome laptop, I wanted one, but couldn't afford it.
Cheers,

Ecliptick and dead red eyes,
Thank you for confirming an opinion I have stated several times. Justin's rudeness transcends his knowledge. Prepare to have him get even nastier and personal in his next attack on you.
I also own a business and would not treat my worst potential customer in the manner Justin acts on these threads.

Wy thank you sir. I was merely in support of other posters. I am so sorry you find that undesirable. If you actually read my post, you will see your last post confirms what I said.
BTW, I would rather try to give this forum a housecleaning by getting rid of rude, angry "children" than worry about reputation points.
Say, do I get the discount for having 10 posts on the forum?

I'm guessing you guys aren't tired of threads being locked yet.
NBR does not tolerate disrespecting of any members, so please stop. It doesn't matter who started it, it needs to stop now.
In love with Asus W2V...buy now or wait a little longer?
