I bought a Belkin Cooling Stand a few weeks ago since I could get it locally. It is Model F5L001, the single fan with inverted stand. It honestly didn't appear to make any difference in my temps so I ordered the Zalman NC1000 from NewEgg. Results below are comparing temps with the Belkin vs the Zalman with stock settings and OC settings. My GPU has been soft modded from GeForce 9500m gs to Quadro FX1700.

    Stock settings [email protected], GPU@475/400:

    Belkin idle gpu 55c/cpu 42c, load gpu 79c/cpu 62c

    Zalman idle gpu 54c/cpu 42c, load gpu 75c/cpu 59c

    OC settings [email protected], GPU@590/481:

    Belkin idle GPU 58c/cpu 45c, load gpu 85c/cpu 64c

    Zalman idle GPU 56c/cpu 43c, load gpu 81c/cpu 61c

As you can see my results show an improvement of 3c on the cpu and 4c on the gpu under load. The difference is less at idle. To test I ran the 3dmark benchmark and then the demo. I haven't gamed with the Zalman but my temps generally ran 2-3 degrees hotter after gaming for a couple of hours.

I don't intend to keep my GPU OCed at 590/481 but I think I can keep my temps below 80c with the Zalman and a moderate OC. It seems to be a quality product and the M50sv hangs over about .50 inches on each side. It's very stable and looks nice so overall I'm pleased with my purchase.

    thanks for posting the results

curious though, why didn't you get the nc2000? It would have been a better fit for the M50SV

    thanks

I read a couple of reviews that said the 1000 would work with a 15" notebook and wanted to be able to fit it in the M50 case. It fits snuggly in the case so I don't think the 2000 would fit. I imagine the 2000 would provide a bit more cooling though.

I actually ordered the zalman nc2000 for my f8sn-c1 I will post the results when it arrives and I get the chance to run some tests.

do you mind posting the temperatures on idle and on load without any coolers? or are they the exact same as with the belkin cooler?

    thanks
