Here is an informative article about the upcoming upgrade to Windows 10. It relates closely to systems with small storage drives like the X205TA. It is also interesting to note that Microsoft has declared that there will not be a WINBoot configuration for Windows 10, so if they can figure out a way to install Windows 10 on the X205TA, it will be in a standard, compressed configuration, just like all other computers will have.

Interesting but last paragraph not too promising:
" Microsoft has yet to solve a Windows 10 upgrade challenge on small Windows 8.1 devices that use the WIMBOOT feature. Those devices typically have limited storage (32 GB or less). Currently, those systems are blocked from Windows 10 upgrades because there simply isn't enough room to handle the downloaded Windows 10 image while still allowing for a graceful recovery if something fails during the upgrade process. "We are evaluating a couple of options for a safe and reliable upgrade path for those devices," Microsoft says."
So 32GB users may be out of luck.
I still don't know why they don't just offer 64GB over 32GB. Flash NAND, especially eMMC is very cheap, and 64GB over 32GB would be a matter of a mere few dollars. I think most users would easily spend an extra $10-12 after markup to pay for the increased storage. And/or they could do like they did on the 32GB Transformer T100TA where it had a separate 8GB eMMC chip just to store the backup. That makes the most sense so it can't get blown away. It's always there. -
I don't think 32GB users will be out of luck. After all, Microsoft said they are evaluating a couple of options for a safe and reliable upgrade path.
If upgrading through Windows Update isn't feasible, then a fresh install through a download of the ISO should work just fine. -
Just bought this X205TA from bestbuy for $150. Turned it on and configured for W8. First thing it asked me is if I wanted to upgrade to W10. I did and it said I was 9GB short and that I could use an external drive to finish installation. I bought an extremely slow $10 flash drive and 4 hours later I now have W10 installed and working. I deleted the 'Previous version of Windows' and now have 16.5GB free out of 28.4GB in my C: drive.

Hi Mcamack, Good to hear that you were able to get the Windows 10 upgrade done. I am looking into buying this here in India. Really would appreciate if you could comment on the performance of Windows 10 on this device as it has only 2GB of memory and as I understand it, the memory is not upgradable.
