It look like there's no hope of me finding a HD caddy for my ASUS S1300N Laptop computer but I'll keep trying.

Is there any way that I can just install the Hard drive without the caddy????I thought that the caddy is used to hold the HD so that it fits the slot and makes sure that the hard drive does not rattle around.

Has anyone lost or broken their HD caddy and had to improvise?????

    Thanks

How did you lose your old caddy? Did you toss it out with the old drive or something? Generally, there's not a good workaround for not having the shielding. Don't try to jury-rig something in if you don't know exactly what you're doing.

Hey flipmylid, I think at least I can give you some shoots of the caddy, when I get home tonight, and hopefully it will help.

I brought the Laptop on Ebay. The person who sold it to me said that the previous owner took out the hard drive because he wanted to save his data and he took the caddy with him. The previous owner lives in another country. I tried to get the seller to email his friend and send the caddy to me but I haven't heard from him.

I thought that I could buy a caddy off of Ebay or elsewhere but to this date.....no luck!!! I'll keep trying.

It's not worth the risk to try some improvision so I won't try!!!

    Thanks for all your help
