    Hello.
Yes - I was have a G1S-B1 and SSD Super Talent MX 120GB. Everything was just fine.
Now this SSD works on my M50V and also everything is OK.

    Regards,

Notebook SSD's are produced in standard 2.5" formfactors, and require no specific drivers to interface with the motherboard. As far as the BIOS knows, it's just another hdd with very low random read speeds :).

    Short answer = yes.

Just make sure it's SATA and it should work.

So is there any benefit to adding one ? I was under the impression that they improved performance and allowed you to boot nearly instantly

They usually improve read speeds significantly. Sometimes writes are not so good (i.e., comparable with HDDs) -- but I only remember this vaguely so I may be incorrect.

Performance also depends strongly on the particular SSD. I would suggest you check some guides/reviews around the internet to form an opinion. Tom's Hardware is a good place to start.
