Overall, the install went very well. I started by flashing my BIOS to 204. I then did a clean install on the 2nd partition on my hard drive (leaving XP MCE in place on the other partition as it came from ASUS).
Once done, I connected to Microsoft (using a wired Ethernet connection) and 10 updates were available which I allowed to be installed.
Next I paired my Asus/Logitech Bluetooth to the W2P.
I then tried to install the Wireless LAN drivers, but I kept getting a message that I needed administrator privs, which I already had, but no dice. I decided to come back to this later.
I then installed 1/17/2007 Vista (64-bit where applicable) drivers from Asus in the following order:
Intel Inf Update
ATI Video drivers
Audio drivers
Modem drivers
Email LED
Touchpad
TV Tuner M104
NB Probe
RICOH Card Reader
TPM
ATK Driver
ATK Hotkey
ATK Media
ATK OSD2
ITE Remote
After various reboots from installing the above drivers, everything was now installed, and low and behold, the Wireless LAN came up all of a sudden, so I switched over to using it.
Device Manager shows that everything now has drivers, so all is well from that standpoint.
Issue 1. NB Probe is very sparse is what it reports. Here's XP:

And here is Vista:

Notice how under Vista it states "Normal" for CPU temp and fan speed. What's up with that? I want the actual temp and rpms.
Issue 2. When I booted this morning, NB Probe didn't launch at all. Instead, I got the following message:

Issue 3. While the hotkeys work, I don't get the OSD like I do under XP MCE when using them. Not sure how to fix.
I should mentioned that I never could get "2KSETUP.EXE" to run when attempting to install the ATK driver, so I went into Device Manager and installed it that way (my last unknown device).
Under Device Manager, these are my ACPI items:

Issue 4. I just got done installing Office 2007 and while all the applications work well, the Email LED doesn't blink when I have unread mail. Perhaps I need to uninstall Email LED and reinstall it since Office 2007 wasn't already on the notebook when I initially installed it?
Issue 5. I can't play HD-DVDs under Vista. It doesn't come with a built-in player, and I'm not aware of a 3rd party solution that works under Vista 64-bit.
Now, I'm a complete newbie, having just received this 4 days ago and this is my first experience with an Asus notebook, and these are very minor issues in the grand scheme of things. But I hope some of you seasoned users might have some pointers for me.
Thanks!
Other than these minor gripes, this W2P really rocks! This notebook is the center of conversion in all the meetings I go to at work (well, at least until we get down to business).![]()
