Yes I have installed Windows a few times and the first time was ok but had to reinstall. Did a fresh install and now I am missing in the Power Options such as Hibernate Option and what to dow when the lid closes.

This has been very frustrating does anyone have any ideas

    Easy!

Go to control panel, then power options, then tpo the Hibernate tab and turn hibernate off. The 2nd tab(I think) lets you choose what the laptop does when lid is closed/power button pressed, etc.

No the problem is that the hibernation tab is not there at all and the option of what the computer does when the lid is closed is not there either.

So things are missing that are usually there.

Well first off, what system do you have? Also, check the Bios, make sure its all at default settings, cause if something is disabled there, the OS will not recognize it if its not there. Just like a printer port or on board modem, if its not there, it wont be installed or recognized. Another thing is, do you have all the Asus drivers installed from the CD provided with your system? Also what power managers do you have installed? Such as, Power4Gear, CHC, etc.

That is correct a Z70va. I had all the drivers installed yesterday and no hibernation and today with nothing besides the operating system no hibernation. The BIOS I have is 0602 or 0206 and it doesn't say G. I say a BIOS on the ASUS website that had a G after the numbers. Can anyone confirm if this BIOS is up to date. Also if it isn't or I set the defaults on the BIOS (given that I may have changed them) would I have to reinstall the OS.

Sorry for all the questions but this is really bothering me.

    Thanks again.

Yes, that's the latest bios. Did you change anything within the bios? As for having the OS and the complete drivers installed. Do you also have Service pack 2? I've got a Z70VA also, it should be there. Also, do you have any other tools managing your power?

DId you install the ASUS ACPI drivers? what about ATK0100? You need to have all of the asus drivers installed for it to work "properly"...

Thanks for the ideas. The thing I would like to know is if I install those drivers (assuming that is the problem) should I just be able to boot the system and have the options there or do I have to do a fresh install.

No, you just have to install them. Actually those are probably the most important and the first ones that should've been installed in the first place. Install all the drivers on the CD provided.

    OK,

I installed all the drivers. I have the ATK100 in the Windows folder say it. I have up to the SP2 Windows Updates done and still no option for standby or hibernate.

Please please what is going on.
