I could be wrong but I got the feeling that the excessive heat everyone talking about is coming from the Hitachi drive that came with the notebook. I have a 5400rpm Samsung Spinpoint drive and I'm thinking to swap it into the W3V to see what kind of temperature it gives. Last night I tried to open the hard drive enclosure at the bottom but the cover is still very tight even the screw that holds the cover had been loosen. I was a bid surprised and stopped there to avoid making any physical damage to parts for being too aggressive.

So, has anyone replaced the hard drive in your W3V on your own? for those who done this already would you mind giving me a quick "tutorial"?

    Thanks in advance.

Prise the cover off carefully at a point near the fixing screw. As well as lifting it up, let it rotate towards the front of the computer.

    At your own risk,

    John

It's very straight forward....... take the screws out of the hard drive cover, and pull out the drive and just take the cable off that drive and put it on another.

Just as a notice - unless you're going to use a seagate... don't expect much less heat.

    Thanks,
