I want to buy a laptop with the Intel Core from gentechpc. However, I know that Intel Core 2 comes out at the end of July. Is it worth waiting that long in case prices drop?
EDIT:
Will Intel Core prices drop when Intel Core 2 comes out? And is worth the wait to buy a latop when the Intel Core prices are lower?
-
asus laptop prices never drop. the chips may come out at the end of july but your prob talking 2 months before they show up in a model other than built to order. buy a pc when you need it. if you can wait no prob then wait if you need it now then buy it now. the speed difference wont be much.

Well I actually want to buy the first Intel Core and not Intel Core 2. So I was thinking that the prices for the first Intel Core will drop thats why I was asking this. I think you misunderstood my original question.

exactly. a release date is not when you will find the technology in a laptop. Expect it to be around thanksgiving / christmas time before you actually see the core 2's in full fledge.
and based on prices, the core duo already dropped in price, and is already quite cheap. So I can guess that it wont drop hardly at all, if at all. -
Core duos had a price drop last month I think. even if you do wait till the first batch of Core 2 Duos come out, it will be still based on the Napa chipset. The San diego (I think thats the name) will have a 800mhz FSB and that will be release in early-mid 2007. SO I suggest just buying a Core 2 Duo compatable notebook now.

If u want to wait then wait till h1 next year when the new santa rosa chipset actually arrives which will took full advantage of the core2duo; otherwise; if u can't wait that long then buy it now, the major advantage the new core2duo vs the current core duo in 32-bit app is minimal.

It's not san diego it is santa rosa
