I read a post in the Dell forum about weird conflict issues with firewire devices. I'm planning on getting an A8JS to use for games and audio recording, and firewire is IMPERATIVE for me. Have there been any reported issues with firewire on Asus laptops?

Also, can someone please tell me that Asus and GentechPC have better customer service than Dell? I just talked to a guy who couldn't speak english and didn't know if Dell had a dead pixel policy.

It depends on which FW chipset the Asus is using.

More and more companies are using the cheaper Firewire chipsets. I believe most of the new ASUS laptops use Ricoh for their Firewire support. The desktops used to use TI but more and more use VIA.

You might need to purchase a separate ExpressCard if you have extremely sensitive equipment.

ASUS has a 30 day ZBD for most of their Ensemble laptops, and your standard 7 dead subpixels over the remainder of the warranty.
