Just started to research on a new laptop, so I am 3 Months late to this thread :) . . .and this is my first post. I sign up specifically to come into Eddies defense.

AlexOnFyre, you got to stop being so hard headed and really try to listen and than try to understand what other ppl are saying first before you reference articles that you read, which most likely are written by someone who does not have a technical background (On a seperate note, most writers don't have a technical background).

Robson is aim to improve HDD I/O performance. And that is what Eddie has been saying all along. And HDD I/O performance has nothing to do with RAM.

Eddie, you are one crazy enthusiast. . .LOL. . . I do have few questions for you:

    1) How much has the robson technology improved since you been playing with it?
    2) And can I install a 1 gig robson memory module on the Asus G1S-A1 without moding it?

    1. a new driver has been released that makes use and enabling the technology easier. i have not retested since then. a newer driver will come out yet again and again. the technology is here to stay in one form or another. intel has discontinued sales of the itm 1g modules for a few weeks now for unknown reasons while oem integration has increased. i think odms are making their own itm now.
    2. no.

    Thanks Eddie,

    Follow up questions:
    1) A mod is required only for the Intel made Turbo Memory?
    2) On Asus's website it saids teh G1S-A1 supports Turbo Memory, if it does, then why is a mod needed?

Also, have you posted the video on how to mod the G1S-A1 to fit the ITM yet? If so, can you link me?

    Thanks

we never made a video. we generally do not unless the option is no longer in demand for obvious reasons we want to keep exclusive options.....exclusive

ahhh. . .works out perfect for me, I don't plan to use Vista until SP1 is available, hopefully by that time half height turbo cards are availalbe and the techology is stable.

    Thanks again Eddie!

I guess I came along a little too late for this. It was a bit sad to see all the arguing and hostility back and forth.
In any case, I just ordered a laptop with Santa Rosa 2.2 GHz and 4GB RAM, with Turbo Memory and a Hitachi 7k200.
I would like to know if there are any recent benchmarks showing the effects of turbo memory on a system with ample memory and a really fast HD.
All the benchmarks I've seen out there are on computers with 1GB of RAM. If you're going to buy a Santa Rosa system, why on earth would you only get 1GB of RAM? And I know it should theoretically still help a system with a fast HD and lots of memory, but I haven't seen any numbers to prove it. Thanks.
