Well i figure i would give a little progress report for my F3JP since its been in Iraq for 3 months now.

All is well, this sucker is built very tough. First, in kuwait my buddy tipped the cot and this sucker fell on the floor..really hard..no dent no scratch..nothing. Second this bad boy got stuck in my toughbox since i lost the keys so i had to peel the lid of the box open and try to wriggle this bad boy out..and i mean it was wedged in there real hard, got it out..no issue. Third, i flew on several blackhawk flights and this thing was in my assault pack and it got kicked, smushed and shoved between all the occupants and their duffels. Dust is a nasty issue here so i compress air blast this bad boy daily..usual running idle temps are 42-44C and gaming is 50-57C. I got a nice laptop cooler for it so it works nicely. One thing i dont like is the fact that the lid sometimes doesnt snap shut all the way (one of the little hooks doesnt catch but the other one does) other then thats its running really nicely, and it picks up the wireless signal here in the barracks nicely so i cant complain, although the internet is as nible as a glacier.

My F3Jc`s lid got scratched real easy. Just placed it top down on a seemingly clean desk, left it there for a minute and voila. Turned it over and there it was - a rather nasty 2,5cm (~1 inch, for those metrically challenged) scratchmark right beneath the ASUS logo.

I've had my f3jp for a couple of weeks now and love it. the lid is a little annoying, but a little extra pressure and it clicks shut.

Yeah I would much rather use my first "laptop" as a shield.

Hmmm.. you could have a look at the F3Sv.. I'm going to Taiwan this september, so would replace my F3Jp around then... I wouldn't touch the A8Js with a barge pole.. It's got great specs, but the screen is a lottery... Why risk it.. ?

I agree with kelldore.. It's been some time for my laptop too, and there is nary a scratch to be seen.. Great thing, this one.
