Is Asus A8Js the best gaming 14'' notebook out there right now ? Is it relatively thick and heavy ?

In the market and readily available right now, yes, but in a few weeks, it'll be succeeded.

As for its dimensions, it's about average as a 14", there are thinner and lighter 14" notebooks but far from the specs on the A8.

The A8s(x) notebooks, where (x) is the letter of the different models within that series. Check the ASUS sticky for a listing of notebooks.

Correct me if I'm wrong but won't the new A8 series be using the 8400M G?

Someone recently posted the benchmarks on the 8600M and they were lower than the Go 7700, so wouldn't that mean the 7700 would still be better than the 8400M G performance wise?

Considering the amount of models the A8 series had(I think 5-6?), I wouldn't be surprised that the A8sv thats been announced is just the tip of the iceberg.

I agree.. the Go 7700 on the A8Js is a non-sharing 512mb, the 8400M is a 128mb with turbocache but maybe because it supports DX10.. but still I don't see how the 8400m would be able to run heavy games on it..

the a8js is still the most powerful 14 inch notebook in north america.

the zepto znote is more powerful with the 8600 gt.

Ive never seen what gpu goes in the a8js santa rosa model. It could be the 8600 gs which seems to have lower scores than the 7700 but comparable.

I think it will have the 8600 gt but i dont think anyone knows at this date. It is possible that the a8js will be the most powerful 14 inch notebook in north america for a whole other year but i doubt it.

If I were buying today I think id get the a8js over the a8 with the 8400. But if I were buying today Id want to see the compal fl100 and the a8js santa rosa first, meaning id wait a month I think it would pay off.
