I bought an ASUS Z96JS specifically because it was CBB and was going to be easy to replace/upgrade parts.

My laptop is only a week old and already I have HDD problems (Samsung 5400 80gb sata). The HDD has bad sectors and needs to be replaced.

The store I bought this at claims that SATA is really new and not so common so to get a replacement HDD is a special order and will take a week.

From what I have seen, pretty much all the new laptops are using SATA so I don't see the big deal (other than this store not carrying stock and special ordering everything)

    Is this right?

I am pretty pissed off. I bought this computer over a week ago so that it would be running smoothly, set up and ready to use for the business presentations I had this week. Now I have been screwed over! (I won't get the new HDD until next week)

Will sata become a proper accepted standard? Will this not be a problem in the future?

    cheers,
    intellijel
