I'm buying a notebook next month and I'm looking at the Asus W3N right now. I can't get the W3V that everybody is talking about because it will not be available here until late June. The W3N seems quite nice anyway and I can get it at a really nice price. It has the features that I'm looking for such as dedicated graphics, TV-out, DVD-R and a small size. I've read some posts about heat and noise issues, but according to other reviews of laptops with similar specs, they also have theese kind of problems.
Is the W3N a good buy or are there any other laptops with similar specs that I should look into?

The W3N is a good buy. The performance difference between the W3N and the W3v is marginal anyway. There's a lot of talk going on about the W3v as it is the latest tech. But the W3N comes close. Especially if you can get it at a good price.

I would say go for the W3N. IMO, it is also a better choice than most any system out there in it's class right now from the other brands.

I have had my W3N for a few weeks now and I love it. It has everything you need.

I´ve posted the topics about the fan noise which I still find quite anoying, constant speed at 2500rpm and cool air blowing from the vents. I have upgraded with the latest BIOS twice without any changes in fan performance.

At the moment I´m not going to do anything about it, other than that it´s a great piece of machinery. Buy it!!! I doubt you will notice any big differences fro the W3V.
A faster HDD would be good though, mine is 4200rpm which I think is a bit slow.

If you can get a good deal on the N, then it's worth it. But if not, you may not be gaining much with the V, but you're not losing anything either...... so if they are about the same price... if you can get it... get it.

    Thanks,

I agree... if you get a good deal on the N, get it; it's a great machine... you don't really gain much by getting the V except an x600
