Hello. I've been looking to replace my m6bne with something more portable but balanced. The u3 seems perfect but has no dvd player. The u6 looks good but has only a 12 inch screen. Is there going to be a 13 inch with an internal dvd drive?

And I'd like to stick with asus.

The W7S / W7Sg? The former has a $200 MIR through the end of April.

The U6 owners seem to rave about their 12" machines in the Owner's Lounge thread, but 12" is a bit small for me; I'm leaning toward the U3 in a few months after the -Sg hits stateside.
I very much doubt it. Asus already have the W7 series, which just got the Penryn update. The U3 will be ODD-less because the chassis and internals can't be redesigned for the current model, so this is unlikely to happen until after it goes EOL and replaced by something else (figure at least 12-18 months minimum, it's only 6 months old now).

Asus has paired the designs for the U1/U3 and U2/U6 in their ultraportable market segments, and is unlikely to introduce a further competitor into the mix since historically they do all they can to avoid overlaps, and the market for full-size ultraportables is fairly small to begin with - adding a third 13" model would just introduce competition for their existing lineup, which doesn't make sense business-wise since you have added production/overhead costs and little/no increase in net sales.

I also think the W7S(g) is a good machine. W7Sg better because of the lack of the 512MB integrated RAM (it's 1GB in that version). Portable, quite powerful CPU-wise, and balanced GPU-wise. Perfect for the casual gamer of not-very-new-games.
