I have been experiencing this since I got the laptop 2 weeks ago. The internet explorer seems to be very slow comparing to the internet explorer I have in my previous pc which is xp. Is this something with vista or is it some confirgurations in the model itself? Please advise me. Thanks

Internet Explorer actually froze my laptop about 20 times. Thankfully I haven't used IE in about 4 years and see no reason to. Download and use Firefox.

    1. Do a clean install
    2. Install all updates

You computer should be way faster than it is now.

I have a IE7, Opera and FF3 B2 on this laptop and frankly, they all have the EXACT same speed of operation. I'm keeping IE7 because it's the only one that the UI doesn't look to small in 1680x1050 imo. I know it's just a matter being used but still.

    Go here.
    GetFireFox.com
    Download FireFox.
    Forget IE.
I haven't use IE for about +4 years now.

Not that I'm offering a solution here. There's another symptom that I could not attribute to anything in particular.

Most of the downloads in IE froze at 99% (1 sec remaining). I left one of them running. It never completed.

Maybe it's an isolated example but I just thought people should be aware of the weirdness that is IE on Vista on G1S

The same downloads in Firefox completed flawlessly.

Do a clean install of Vista, with all the drivers. After that, install only the Asus applications you need. Then do some optimization here. And if you wish to enchance the Vista user experience, get the here.

IE7 will be much faster now

Everyone always says Firefox is the greatest thing since sliced bread. Personally when I tryed it, it did nothing but crash. I think it's a piece of garbage. Ie may be slower with a lot more overhead, but at least it works without having to restart it every 2 minutes. And yes, before all you fanboys start jumping on me, I even opened a support ticket with them and they couldn't fix it either. After 2 days I gave up and went back to IE. Don't let them fool you, Firefox does not work "great" for everyone.

Huh, that's really weird. Did you try installing other versions? If you can get it to work, it's MUCH better than IE.
