Hello,
I was wondering if it is possible to replace the built-in Intel Wireless 3945 ABG (WM3945ABG Mow2) adapter in my Asus F3Ja, for something like Gigabyte GN-WI01GT Mini PCI-Express.
The built-in Intel card seems pretty straight forward to remove, but I'm unsure if it is Mini PCI-Express or just Mini PCI. It is approx 3x5cm, and that seems to fit best with Mini PCI-E, however when I google for WM3945ABG Mow2 I can't find any mentions of it being a PCI-E card.
Also I would like to know if the antenna connectors are same on both cards, or if I have to do some handywork to get them connected![]()
Thanks in advance
Joni

Here's a quote after i did some quick research,
Unfortunately, no you CAN'T use this for Laptops...it is a desktop part, most new motherboards come with 2 PCIE slots, 1 for the Graphics card which is 16X, and one for other things, this is one of those things that can be placed on a 1x PCIE slot.
The only other substitute is Atheros wireless cards. -

Thanks for the quick reply!
However the card you found info about is the "WP01GT", the card I was thinking about was the "GN-WI01GT", which is not the same thing.
I also found this url on ebay while searching, it seems to be what I want, however I'm not sure.
The question I was mostly interested in receiving an answer to was if it is even possible to rip out the Intel card and replace it with something else?

Oh, so you took out the old Intel adapter and put in the GN-WI01GT card without problems? How did the antenna connections fit?
This is wonderful news, I'll probably order one of those today then!
Btw, did you check if there are working Linux drivers for the WI01GT?

I bought my laptop without an wi-fi adaptor.
I only had the choice of two cards an gigabyte and an intel in the minipci-e format.
It was easy enough to fit, it was around £17.00.
im using it on xp, so i dont know about linux.
good luck.
John.
Is it possible to swap the wireless card in my F3Ja?
