Well, I'm building a C90s and I just got the video card in to find something a little un-nerving. I ordered a GDDR3 version of the card and I'm thinking I got a DDR2 version in the mail. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120188383955 - this is the card I bought. The seller states that it is GDDR3 but after looking up the numbers on the RAM - Hynix HY5PS561621A - it turns out to be DDR2. After looking through many reviews here, people who have the 8600m DDR2 have the larger RAM chips on their board, mine are small, like half the size of the white printed box. This makes me very confused...could someone shed some light?

The GDDR3 is essentially a modified version of DDR2, its runs cooler allowing for higher clock speeds :) try running 3D mark and see what score you get.

Oh is it? Well, thing is, my cpu arrive tomorrow and the rest of my c90s arrives next wednesday. Does anyone have a picture of a ddr3 version so I can compare it? I've just been jerked around on eBay before so I'm slightly paranoid about it :(

Here is what it looks like. Green pcb, where the ddr3 version has blue, a few transistors or smaller blackish chips aren't there//in the same spot. However, the ram appears to be the same size?

You guys think this guy ripped me off?

Gotta love flee-bay, does the card itself have some kind of serial number on it. If it does try feeding it to a search engine and see what kind of results you get. I can't make heads or tails of that picture, need to be able to read whats on the chips.

Actually he finally messaged me back. He said that the person he bought it off of said it was GDDR3, and when he listed it he wasn't sure. He contacted the person he bought it from and he said it was DDR2. So...I'm glad the guy I bought it from is cool enough to grant me a full refund. Now I gotta struggle to find a DDR3 one again since eWiz stopped carrying them.
