Dammit when u think u have the upper edge and youre going to make an enlightened purchase the unstoppable Tech market kicks u in the face!!!!
I was about to order the A8Js with BT included, when i stop for a little web browsing, being one of my favorite stops this forum ;) ;) and i discover that a beast of a laptop that appears not to differ the A8Js price range much is about to be released (or so i think  )- the G1

My questions are: should i wait for it? when is it going to hit europe( portugal to be precise)? does it dethrone the A8Js in performance? i'm still very interested in portabillity..... but i must confess i'm a sucker for the resolution and heralded better built quality of the G1...... Plaese somebody help me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That would depend on whether you want a 14 inch or a 15.4 inch gaming laptop. If the portability of a 14 inch appeals to you, buy the Asus A8Js right away. Otherwise, wait for the G1.

Both G1P and A8js have pretty much the same specs, just that one has a bigger screen and one has a smaller resolution.

Technically the A8js is better for gaming since it has a lower screen resolution, however most widescreen resolutions are not supported by games natively. Thus you would have to use www.widescreengamingforums.com

Also you have to look at what you want, portability vs a bigger screen, and at this time it would be hard to guess the batterylife of the G1P.

This one is most certainly worth waiting for for me. The build of a W3j, the specs of an A8js, and all put into a 15inch. Yup, I like this one. The weight won't be an issue as I currently lug around a extremely heavy 17inch (HP junk). I just hope it will be available by mid January.

I am interested in the lcd used.

Youll notice the g2p has a very expensive lcd from lgp using 8ms and ips.

If the g1p gets one like that, slam dunk sold.

If it gets the screen like the z96j well then I think its priced right.

I wouldnt play the waiting game on leaked asus notebooks. It might be months.

    I know how you feel!

But fortunately, I've already decided. G1P it is!

Now, to answer your question...it really depends on the person. But I would wait.

    Look at these questions:

Do you need the laptop NOW?
Do you mind it being 15.4 inch?
Do you mind its price being maybe even higher than stated? Cuz it probably will.

All I know is, I've been checking out specs on the G80 GPU from Nvidia and if I can wait for a G1, I can wait for an announcement of a Mobile G80 notebook....especially since Asus is the exclusive manufacturer for the G80 cards.

There mostly wont be a 8800go.. most probably u have to wait out till mid year 2007 to get a hold of the G80 based go cards.
