I still haven't decided yet, and i was just wondering from anyone who has a W1N - is it mobile? It seems a tad on the heavy side..

My other choice is the fujitsu S62XX , which is obviously much smaller and lighter.. but if the W1N is reasonable on battery life and weight, I'd like the bigger screen

Why oh why is picking a notebook so hard :(

I think anything over 4 pounds is too heavy, but that's just me. I have enough days where I haul my backpack for a number of hours, so every ounce counts. As for the screen, don't forget that the S7000 series has a 14" and the IBM t42 goes up to 15".

Its all a matter of choice. I to was considering the W1N, but went for the M6Ne as it was a few hundred grams lighter, with slightly better battery life (4 vs 3 hours approx). I must say that after carrin round 3kg, you definitely don't foget your carrying it. If you plan on taking it around everyday then you should look for something smaller and lighter. Perhaps the M5N?
If not then the W1N will be a great choice. The WSXGA screen is very very nice, and I think it makes the weight worth it.

Underpantman, I am as well looking for a notebook. I am in college and I am doing a software engineering course, so I use it for a bit of programming, and might play some games in the boring lectures. Most of my classmates have a notebook, and of which they complain about the hefty weight of their desktop replacement(A few of them owns the Asus A series). Initially I thought of the M6Ne, being a bit lighter than the A series, yet fully packed with features such as long battery life, dedicated graphics card etc.. But since you bought up the weight problem... I was wondering if I was going down the right track.. But I DO NEED something with at least a 14.1" screen that is able to go on a resolution of 1400x1050 so i can read a few more lines of codes when i am trying to debug, preferably something light enough for me to carry around uni everyday say around 5lb...
I saw a very nice notebook which is only 2.3KG with a 15" screen
packed with features. But sadly its only avaliable in taiwan

    Too bad...
So I have been researching on some of the light and thin notebooks
to which i narrowed down to

    - IMB ThinkPad T41(I would go for the T41p but dont have enough gas)
    - Toshiba Tecra M2
    - Sony Vaio Z1W

I was wondering if theres others that I might've missed out. And what are your thoughts on these 3 choice and which would be the best one for my needs...
How much of a weight difference are there for these 3 and the Asus M6ne??

    Hi ache083,
If you are going to be luggin the notebook all day everyday, then the lighter the better I say. I got the M6Ne to replace my desktop, but I wanted something that was still portable when I needed it to be. Which is at most once or twice a week, when I take it to work or a friends house. Thus as much as I love my M6Ne I can't suggest it to you, it will be to heavy. As for replacements, can't offer to much help as I have no real exprience with any of those. My guess would be the ibm?
Sorry I can't be of more help

A buch of people here at work have IBM T41 series laptops and they have proven to be portable and reliable. As to how much wieght is too much it depends upon how big you are, one of my colleagues has a 'big and heavy' Sony with a 16inch screen - doesn't bother him since as he says that compared to how much he weighs the Sony isn't so much.

From my experience go for the lightest you can, laptops always seem to get heavier the longer you have to carry them around for.
