I need a new laptop quickly and have been trying to decide what to get. I need it to be 15", lightweight, and have decent hardware specs. I'm considering purchasing the Zenbook UX51Vz-DH71, but it seems a little overpriced, and there may be something better available that I'm not aware of.

    Would you recommend the UX51Vz-DH71?

    *bump* :)

Do you think the UX51Vz is still a good buy, or is there something better for the price?

I have this computer and have loved it. The N550JV models are newer with Haswell CPU, GT 750M video card so its better in that regard. The 1TB HDD isnt as good as the mSATA in RAID 0 the UX has but you can always replace that with a large SSD. I'd check out the one before deciding on the UX51.

I second the N550JV also, as well as the SSD upgrade. It's a solid notebook with good specs for the price, and it looks and feels great! At half the price of what you're looking at for the UX51VZ, it's definitely a better value.

Just know that if you choose to upgrade the HDD yourself, instead of having your supplier do it, then you'll need a small torque screw driver/bit for the laptop's screws. The screws securing the drive inside are typical Philips, though. :)
