    There are only 3 notebook HD speeds, 4200, 5400 and 7200.

    and ASUS tends to use 5400 as standard now days....unlike many bigger players who treat customers like idoits and figure that the average joe wont notice or know what hdd speeds are or mean...therefore they feel they can get away with screwing them by using the cheapest gear they can get.

    However the A8Jc in the UK comes with a 4,200 rpm hard drive.

    It is very complicated in different country. I don't still understand why Asus give different spec. in different country, but it is 5400 rpm hard drive in North America.

    I personally find this quite disturbing.

    I've yet to confirm this myself, but back when I was considering the V6J (OK, I still am considering the V6J, just look at it ;)) another member here suggested that the Australian model V6J's were shipping with 4200RPM drives. For a machine that retailed at around $3500 AUD at launch, this is pretty poor.
