It seems to me that the screen is a little brighter while i run the laptop on AC. I did notice a setting in the BIOS that sounds something like : "Enable to dim the brightness of the LCD while running on battery" - does this mean that it caps the max brightness while on battery or what?
I have no way of measuring if it's for real or just in my head. I can try an take some macro photos of the screen while it being completely white and comparing the exposure time (for the same ISO of course). Other than that, it's just my eyeballs that may or may not lie to me![]()

Thanks, i was going out of my mind trying to figure out if i was imagining it.

I actually noticed that bios setting the other day as well. Has anyone disabled it to see what happens? I imagine that the screen shouldn't dim when on battery.
ps. 100th post wooo! -
At least on my laptop, the bios setting doesn't do a thing. Well, it might dim the screen when the computer is idle a few mins, I haven't tried.

What notebook are you talking about Laum?
I'll try tomorrow on mine and see if it has any effect. -
i think he is talking about Asus notebooks. I have w3j and have the same option under setup for the screen.

Obviously, "Enable to dim the brightness of the LCD while running on battery" caps the brightness on the LCD when running on battery
So, max brightness on battery < max brightness on AC when that option is "Enabled". The setting is there to conserve battery (the LCD being one of the main consumers).
So noone is imagining things, they are really happenning. Unless you also happen to see dead people.
Is the screen brighter while running on DC?
