Generally laptops use LCD's that use very little power and with decent colors for multimedia. Viewing angle, correct contrast etc. are not a factor usually.

Maybe you can try and check out the Lenovo W70, or is W700? Don't know but that one is made specifically for graphic art design, price ranging from $2,400 to $4,000.

Of course using a desktop would probably be easier using a FireGL and a IPS LCD Monitor.

You want to find I believe are called IPS LCD, they have the best viewing angles and colors.

With the current Asus lineup, I'd say the G73JH would probably be your best bet since it provides a good balance between quality and resolution.
For some odd reason, Asus netbooks tend to have the best screens with contrast ratios up to 1000:1 or more. Most laptop LCD/LED panels are usually 200:1.

If you can find an Asus W90 (currently EOL), that screen will probably be the best for photo editing. Although the color accuracy appears to be fairly average, he W90 screen boasts a 700:1 contrast ratio while taking an impressive score of 93% in color gamut.

Sony is well-known for their quality display. You could look up their Z-series, a (heavy) performance and lightweight 13" notebook. But be prepared to pay premium price for it.

No esata, no firewire and no Express Card slot...those are the drawbacks.

Not too bad for carrying - 8lbs.

Ok, cheers mate. GT 330M is not the best Graphicscard tho. What do you think about HP envy? What bothers me that there is no BluRay... Anyone knows how good the HP Screens are?

I think you could have it on external blu-ray drive on Envy.

Asus G73 is ur best bet if u want a good screen and Asus laptop.. and no it isn't a monster.. An alienware M15x is 9.0lbs+ and its only 15 inch.. this is 8.8lbs and 17 inch.. if u want a portable gaming machine , this is going to be the problem but if u get a bagpack it way easier to carry around rather than the sling bags u usually get with laptops.

Its too damn hard to find a great screen with great graphics.

Hm.. in germany we have many online shops that sell custom notebooks. Most of them use parts from a company named Clevo. At the moment there is a great 15' gaming machine around. Many reviews were saying that it had a really great screen and huge performance. Maybe you should have a look at the clevo forum here. Unfortunately i don't know the exactly name, but here is a link to a german website that shows the notebook. It is cutomizable (even with i7extrem and ati 5830).
Here's also a review in german.

Edit.: you can order it with a english keyboard.

    Ok...next try ;).

The sony vaio E has been refreshed with a full HD screen. This screen is really great for the price. And the vaio has good hardware (i5, ati 5650). It might also be available with BluRay.
Maybe you should have a look.

If you don't need an external drive, then get the G73. You'll appreciate having a 17.3" LCD when you are doing your graphics work. I personally love it, and I don't even do much of it, just fix ups and editing in PS and it's awesome having more workspace.

The two 500GB HDDs 7200 speed give you the fastest mechanical drives for notebooks and I've got movies, anime, phots, and like 10 games installed and still have 500GB left over.

    Good luck with your find.

I travel to work everyday with my G73. I carry it in the included backpack with the following: the power brick, my mouse, mousepad, giant headphones (Audio Technica AD900) and my lunch.

Xps with the rgb led is the best you can do on the go. But the gpu is pretty weak. Its also pretty portable compared to the g73. Envy 15 has great performance and screen. BUT. The build quality is a mess. I would advise against it.
