For the most part when CPU's or GPU's come out you see new models. With Haswell chips comming out if you can wait just a little while you might see that new model.

Haswell chips are slated (or at least that's the story) for release within the next few months; supposedly in June.

Why does NCIX or Amazon or Best Buy have the G75VX already with the 670mx while Xoticpc, Gentechpc, Prostar known Asus resellers still selling the G75VW w/ 660m or the one with Fermi 670m still?

I mean people that will not research will get screwed for purchasing a G75 between $1,300-1,500 not knowing they have only a kepler 660m or an older fermi 670m when they could purchase a g75 with a kepler 670mx for $1,250 plus tax.

    Can you explain that Prostar?

    Thanks

A quick search on Amazon only yielded me one VX model, and it was $1,500 rather than $1,250. I saw them selling a VW with a 660m for $1,250 though. Can you link me to the VX with the 670mx you saw for $1,250? I would love to investigate that. :)

Hi Prostar, it is from Best Buy and the model is G75VX-BHI7N11. This is also the same model that Hidevolution and Amazon are selling and they probably bought it from Best Buy and added a 25% mark up. That's what Hidevolution did with the G46 if i'm not mistaken then added customization options but with a plus mark up.

Best buy seems very cheap...but in my case there's always the shipping to europe, which would make it more expensive than here I think

    Hi Benchmade 42,

That certainly is a good price for the specs! It appears that it's an exclusive deal from Best Buy too, as far as I can tell from scouring for it elsewhere - something I'm not surprised to see, what with BB's market penetration and marketing power.

The only thing I can see that would attribute to the lower than average cost (whether you take into account the 20% markup or go off BB's price) is that it doesn't seem to offer the accidental coverage that is applied to most Asus G75 machines. It's a standard 1 year warranty on parts and labor - which in itself is typical (although the G75VW-DS71 has two years global protection for under $1500).

Not a problem. If you don't want to wait until Haswell and you need a 17" gaming machine with great cooling, this is the best laptop for the price with a 670mx kepler. You can also get the np9130 with 670mx for $1,300 with OS included but only 15.6" or the MSI GT70 w/ 670mx but will cost around $1,500.

    Thanks for the info!

The Asus G75VX-BHI7N11 is the perfect present for one of my relatives. BTW the price is awesome and the curiosity about the cooling is the other reason to look at G75. It’s interesting to be seen the existence of good gaming machines below $1500. I hope that the fans are not too loud.

Personally I intend to grab a Clevo P570WM with X79 chipset.
