Whenever I turn on my A8Jp, the Asus logo makes a noise. Is there anyway to remove that noise? I didnt notice how annoying it would be when turning it on during class.

There is. Enter the BIOS (it will say what key to press when you first turn your computer on), then there should be an option to turn the sound off, on an advanced tab, or something similar to that.

Ok, I have been wondering about the same thing too.

For my V1JP, i looked through the User Manual to find what button to press to get into my BIOS.

    Here's what i did.

Restart the computer, right before the ASUS sound comes and during the sound, I press all of the F keys at the top, F1-F12, and i got into my BIOS. My guess it that F8 is the key to get into the BIOS for the V1JP, but not 100% sure.

Then go to the Advanced tab, then you will see an option called "Play POST Sound" [Yes], then you just need to change it to [No].

PS: You will also see Sound Volume, which mine is set to 4, not sure what would happen if you change it to 8 which is the max. ;)

Anyways after that, go to Exit and Save the changes and your system will reboot and no more Asus Post sound :D.

Thank you Caleb for pointing out that you would need to go into the BIOS to get rid of the Asus post sound.

    Thanks

The number setting affects the system volume. I haven't played with it enough, but I think what happens is that if you increase that number, then use your computer at the same setting in Windows as you had before, the volume will be louder. I think.

Usually, F1, F2, F8 or the Del key will get you into BIOS. I think on most Asus notebooks, it's F2.
