I hope this is the write place in the forum to put this. If not, I'm sorry.

Anyway here is the ASUS that I'm seriously considering buying. Since everyone here is an ASUS user, I thought I'd get the most honest opinion.

As to what it's going to used for:

Light Video gaming like Spore and the Sims 2. Would it support the Elder Scrolls: Oblivion? Probably not.

School work (online courses mostly). Video watching and light photo editing. Internet surfing and your various daily things.

In my opinion this is very good and inexpensive NB.
Not a top notch but still fast and powerful processor, very good video card, all other bells and whistles are in here (large HD, ports ans so on).

This NB is definitely a good choice

Yes and I barely got any replies sadly.

But I'm not looking for opinions on what to buy persay, I'm looking for an opinion on whether or not this particular laptop is good. Since this is an ASUS forum, everyone here is most familiar with the ASUS brand and can tell me better than someone who would just be looking at the specs and nothing else.

The Asus M51 you have linked in your first post is fine for gaming - even for Oblivion. However, I don't think you'll get much battery life out of it since it's using the previous generation CPU. If you can increase your budget a little, I would strongly suggest the getting the M50VM-A1 instead. Also, if you're planning on purchasing an Asus, always buy one from a reputable reseller rather than newegg. Gentechpc has better prices and offers free technical help if you should have any problems with your laptop.

I go with emporium's suggestion. If you are thinking of getting the M51. Go for the M50S or M50V instead!

The M50 to my opinion is newer and a better designed laptop.
The M51 is a remold of the old asus F3 notebook.

Well, Terra. It is difficult to build a decision having such a different inputs.
You can get more information about M51Sn here

After all, if you can't spend more than $1000 you might want to consider smaller F8Sn if you find one - they are really good, I have one and know what I'm saying.
