Is this an asus problem, vista problem, otherwise?

Basically, I'm installing a few new games on my G50v-a2, lets go with bioshock and orangebox as the two main examples.
-Bioshock will only load/save in windowed mode
-Orangebox keeps running poorly sometimes, and the "node map" is out of date and keeps disabling the ai (i can re-enable it, but its still a pain, and that doesn't solve the freezing problems.

I've already returned the Orange box for a new copy 'cause i thought it was the disc, but this copy is the same. So I'm wondering if anyone other g50 users have encountered these problems, and if its maybe something to do with my computer specifically, or is it the g50's (ie hardware, vista, 64bit os, or anything else you can think of). I'm trying to rule out the computer being the problem, but if you have any solutions, please share.

    Thanks, Olly

Check your GPU driver and game setting.

that's not really a vista thing, as i play both bioshock and orange box too (although i got it through steam itself) and i have encountered neither problem you describe. although...you do say you run 64-bit vista. i have 32-bit vista so there might be a difference.

I had a look around for drivers for the 9700mgt, no luck. So if anyone has a link to anywhere that i can find them, super. Oh, and as an update, bioshock crashes on startup now, and hf2 dies whenever i try to load a file. And yet hf2:episode 1 & 2, portal, battlefield 2142, etc., all seem to work, any ideas?? Im hoping its not like reformat&intall everything problem.

    First reinstall GPU drivers.

    Then Vista recovery.

And then, start checking for hardware problems.
