hmm I see pictures of two different units, one with a webcam, the other none.

not as sexy as the w3 series, but still a looker!

    Actually,

Those are two of the new Napa "built on" models. The top one is actually something we just recieved... it's the "replacement" for the Z63a... The only thing I don't like is that it basically shares the 14" widescreen..... and then the look of the Z71...... It doesn't have the sexy appeal of the Z63a (which is a good reason to still pick up one of those), but I guess if you like the Z71 look sort of mixed with the Z33 look, but want something inbetween... then this is your ticket.

Asus has a couple to take in and demo, but retail sales can't start for another 4 weeks. All I can say is that it's still certainly a great notebook.....

But it is NOT the replacement for the W3 series........ eventually the "a" model (z63a) won't be refreshed into the US -- you'll have to get the Z62f, but the W3v will be refreshed into the W3j in March or April.

It's the smaller one that looks like the Z71..... without the webcam.

Strange.... The keyboard doesn't have the dedicated navigation keys which, for me, is one of the strengths of the W3 / Z63A.

On the other hand, the display is shown as 1280 x 800, so one gets a few more rows of pixels.

Yech... it's so plain. The current z63a has the awesome power button on the side and the fantastic shell, as compared to the z62f with it's Dell look-alike body.

    Just my 2cents.

I'm not 100% sure it's going to have 800 pixels high... it may still be 768 because I'm told this is using the same screen out of the W3's........... but regardles.... yeah, like I've told you guys for months.. this year's custom systems are going to start out pretty painfully plain.

On an up note... it means they will be a bit cheaper I think... but you do lose a lot of the look and some of the function as mentioned above.

I think that once these models come out there will be a renewal of Z63a buyers simply because of the design and function.... by that time they may all be gone though.

Actually no, not really..... they are going with an Nvidia card for the next V6j and I think for the first Lambo model based on the V6...... but it's too early to tell on the W3.... I'd say they'd go the same route because of the similiarities between the two models... but I think they really want to seperate them because sales between the two were really split and anyone who bought a V6 found it a toss up to the W3 and vice versa.... so I wouldn't be surprised if they stuck with ATI and just a new card.
