Hi, this is my first laptop so I don't know if this is normal for laptops...
I have the Asus M50VM-B1 and I heard about keyboard lag with these series. It has no problem picking up each key as I hit them. The problem is that there is a delay in the time when I press the button and the time that it takes for it to register on screen.
An example would be if I'm playing a game and I hit W to go forward. There's a small but very annoying delay in the time it takes for my guy to actually move forward. I'm also 100% sure it's not the game that is lagging because I've tried many different games, including older ones and this laptop has specs way beyond the recommended specs of the games.
It this normal or where can I find how to fix it.
Thanks.

If you type fast or hold down a key it should take time to show up on the screen sometimes. It may show up in bursts. The same thing would happen in a game like you describe... there are a few threads that you can find by looking for keyboard lag, most of the typical things to try are updating to the latest bios and atk drivers, disabling the touchpad, or removing the synaptic driver package.

The problem is real, and Asus has not yet addressed it. Here's the temporary solution (worked for me): be warned it will disable any special touchpad features though and you can't use the touchpad to scroll anymore. Your choice, I prefer to do away with the keyboard lag

1. Disable touchpad in Bios
2. Boot windows, then uninstall synaptics touchpad in windows completely
3. Reboot, run CCleaner to ensure all the synaptics registry junk is eliminated (just to be triple sure)
4. Reboot again, this time going into the Bios, then enable the touchpad
5. Save settings, run windows.
6. When Windows starts, it should have automatically found a default windows PS2 driver for the touchpad.
7. There we go, no more keyboard lag! -
, So there is no way to fix this problem without disabling my scroll feature of the touch pad? My friend has an older laptop that can't scroll and it's so annoying when I try to scroll on the touch pad and can't.

I found that post that talks about fixing the problem on the m50 series. The one thing I'm not sure about is if my problem falls under the category of keyboard lag because all they mention when they speak about it is missed key strokes and I don't seem to be having that problem.
So will those fixes be good for my problem? -

There's very little diff between missing keystrokes and lag, just a question of severity... just try out the stuff and see if it gets better

This is from a newsletter that ASUS sends every month or so. this is for the G50V series so I don't know if it will work for others, and whether this actually solves the problem.
Q When using the keyboard to type documents, it will occasionally lag and skip. How can I solve it?
A Please update direct console 2 V2.0.5 and ATK hotkey V1.0.0042 to solve the problem.

Is this what you call keyboard lag?
