Also found some covering on the memory vents.

Great.
I trust ASUS more and more (NOT!), as I see this sort of crap popping up. Seems not-quite-tested BIOSes and untested laptops on battery (C90) are not enough. Now they don't assemble stuff properly any longer, either.
Just a note though... the temperature drops aren't that "huge". A few degrees out of 90 isn't much. Perhaps that "tape" is some kind of filter only? -
Well, still the tape blocks ventilation. It only makes sense that it will get a little cooler...
-
I do have tapes like that everywhere on my c90s...
-
They may be filters. It seems a bit far-fetched that they are assembling units wrongly. What's strange is that the ASUS service guy advises they should be removed if present.
-
logically and sensibly, i think those tapes should not be there. And ASUS tech support tries to justify it by saying " if its not overheating, he shouldnt have opened it. WEll if he didnt open it, he would've not been aware of the problem... and he could've been slowly killing his G1.
This is alarming... -
The tape that goes between the sub heatpipe and the VGA card is stuck with CRAZY GLUE on the pipe...?
-
Under the black tape, I found a second layer of clear plastic tape. There is nothing you can break by doing this, because it is only on the plastic plate that comes off the laptop main body.
-
the c90 or the g1s?
-
I have a g1s-a1
-
so what's the purpose of all that tape then? Is it safe to remove?
-
Decided to just go for it, easily removed. I also found black tape in the RAM compartment and I removed that as well. I don't see any useful purpose to keep it on.
-
Mmm, we can always after removing the tapes design a custom built heat sink for all the components =D ...
-
I bet you could make some cash since a lot of people complain about the heat of this particular laptop.
-
anyone want to give more details about this tape as to where it is and how to go about removing it?
-
Could you make a run through on how to remove this tape for computer morons like me? or would you advise not to bother if it voids warranty or could be dangerous.
Is your G1S getting hot? Look here...
