This isn't mine, but rather a friends--but since he is having issues, I'm posting on his behalf.
That out of the way, he's having quite a few issues with the laptop--the first being BSOD's randomly. They were much more frequent when he first got the laptop, and with some tweaking seem to have subsided since. I can't remember exactly what screen stated the issue was, but when I searched the error it seemed to be a RAM issue--either a conflict with the RAM, or possibly just bad RAM.
Now, however, he is having a random sound issue. When you boot into windows, it states "dsound.dll is not compatible..."etc. etc. Now the weird thing here is, the sound works fine for all of his programs EXCEPT Zune (software, the player is fine). Tried updating drivers, no luck. Curiously, Realtek sound manager was missing from his taskbar. Searches have yet to turn up a fix...
So, if anyone has any insight as to what I could do to fix these issues (more so the second one, as of now) it would be greatly appreciated. Otherwise, it's going back to ASUS and he'd better get a replacement ASAP--as it has had issues since he got it.
For reference, here's the exact one he ordered: Newegg.com - ASUS K50ID-X1 NoteBook Intel Pentium dual-core T4400(2.20GHz) 15.6" 4GB Memory 320GB HDD 5400rpm DVD Super Multi NVIDIA GeForce GT 320M
