I recently acquired a g50vt that was supposed to be issue free. I pulled the hard drive out of my g50vm to verify it works fine, but I kept running into the display error. I tried around 5 different drivers but nothing seemed to work. I ran driver cleaner after each try. I tried replacing the ram, but no go there either.

It would work fine for the most part but as soon as I tried anything that put strain on the graphics card it would go black then come back with the error.

I tried a fresh install on a different hard drive but that didn't work either. I only tried with vista as that was all I had. I swapped the original drive back to the g50vm and there are no issues.

I am at this point thinking it might be a hardware failure not a software issue. Anyone ran into this issue before?

    ****Solved****

I swapped out the 9800m gs from the g51 and it worked fine installed in the g50vt , but the g51 was giving the same error messages that the g50vt was originally giving.

What could be the issue with the card? Would this be a bad ram chip or maybe a solder ball not making good contact...
