I know one reason..... Asus hasn't sent out a W5 or V6 yet... certainly not even a W3 to send out.

We had a few V6 reviews done (one here and one at laptoplogic)... and another by a customer.....

The W3 is finally in some customers hands (as of yesterday) .. but most of them are out playing with them and we might never see them back here again.... Some of the places who reviewed the V6 have interest in the W3 and if we have any left for any period of time, we'll get them some....

No one asked about the W5's..... thats just the plain and simple answer..... If no one asks... we can't provide one.. We have sold just as many of those as V6's though.... but I think they may have been to more of the occasional reader here... so I think they got what they wanted and don't bother with the forums anymore..

The quality of the W5 is really good.. just becasue it's white don't let it fool you.... it has a lot in a little package and it's at a good price and it is very popular........ Asus just changed the prices for some reason..... I'm not sure where the cut came from or why.... but I think costs have come down for sure..... and I think they may be trying to be more competitive.. but it has nothing to do with popularity... We still have a handful of W5's, but most places were sold out of them pretty quick and more still haven't come into the country.... Asus is waiting to really get the news out about them till they can get a larger shipment in.

    Thanks,
    Justin

Why would it being white have anything to do with its quality? Do people actually perceive notebooks that aren't ugly black bricks to be less well built?

No.. white is slimming in my opinion...... the only problem is.. it looks better on the S5 than on the W5.. I'm not saying it's a quality issue, but the lid on the W3 is a brushed aluminum.... on the Z63a it will be carbon fiber and painted... so technically, the brushed aluminum is going to hold up better if we want to argue quality... it's more so that then the color... But I think also, the color shows more dirt... which is does... which may or may not be another thing to consider.
