It has so far and well above my expectations (the Sony). I have a buyer lined up if I were to sell the ASUS and go with the Sony. Right now, it looks that way...all depends on how the keyboard feels when I get it back later. If it feels just like how I got it then I'll keep it. There are a lot of things I like about the ASUS (tv tuner, X700), especially now that I have a large LCD.

The Sony one is **** near perfect. No flex, whatsoever and the screen kills the ASUS one.

I also bought a 23'' LCD for it at home, so the mark on the LCD is not a big deal anyways. Im glad I didnt pay $680 to replace it, when I got the 23'' for just a little more than that and has much more benefit with it.

Where do you get all this money?

Sell both your laptops. Get one of those $300 eMachines desktops. Or an Etch-a-Sketch; it'll fit your needs just fine. Donate all the money squandered on laptops and indecision to charity. Then, and only then will you cease to be a blight upon this world, and stop wasting the time of good people trying to help you.

Really? I ve seen some good sony screens but i have to say i was very impressed by the z83v screen. For the money i have to say it is infact an excellent screen. I think the person above summed it up pretty good. You just like to make a big stink out of everything.

I dont know about you G2P but Screen is one of the most important deciding factors for me, as well keyboard feel, size, casing design etc

And right now...Sony wins in all those areas.

Keyboard cant even compare between the two. the sony one, feels amazing...feels like im typing on an apple.

the z83 wasnt asuses best screen. try comparing the sony to a v6va or w2v. and see how it turns out. and of course the sony wins in size you are comparing a 15in notebook to a 17. and i for one will say sony keyboards are ****. maybe it has a tad less flex possibly but it def doenst have the same feel as a good keyboard. of and dont forget who actually makes sony notebooks.

Funny how mine types and feels like an apple laptop. Its amazing, super flat keys and I dig this style a lot more cause of the shorter keystroke distance. And every single key presses and feels the exact same way...unlike the ASUS, you get keys here and there that press all funky different.

On the list you should also add 3 keyboards and 1 LCD panel, I was wondering how you can mess up so many parts in 2-3 weeks, looks like the CPU, memory and HD I used are solid as a rock. It is a brand new laptop now, take good care of it please.

I'm sure Danny really appreciates that comment..... It's always customers like you who are a huge pain in the ass to deal with and then after going above and beyond what should be expected..... you're still not appreciative. People can and should voice their opinions both good and certainly bad about these products, but it's amazing that over the last year at least, a vast majority of the few who hae complained about anything - had serious issues concerning their believability.... if we can't believe you, it becomes a story of fiction and honestly doesnt' do any good being on this forum. If I hate a vote, I'd vote you off this forum simply for wasting everyone's time and have far too many varying stories in your name - between a few different forums just on this site.........

I Agree different screen names over many forums. 3 different keyboards. and if you need all that stuff replaced im sorry but id bet you damaged it yourself for lack of technical skill. while im not saying things dont break. the fact that you were playing around in that thing says enough. does ones motherboard lcd dvdrw all break at once? this guys annoying sounds like a little girl whining. While i do not mind people saying negative things about asus products if its their expereince some people have bad luck. But learning asus you are a weirdo from your OCD to your babbling can we just kick him off this forum. How can he pretend to be a girl aka sexybeast and a guy learning_asus and masterq over at notebook forums. I think this person has more to worry about then laptops. Now i feel bad for danny at canada sys. i mean im a picky bastard myself i returned 2 asus notesbooks to eddie nothing wrong with them one, i wasnt happy with something my pickyness and the second for some strange reason the z70v monitor gives me a migrane. must be the type of back lighting. But you know what i didnt go complaining like a baby i know im picky so i returned it and ate the restocking fee. and i appologized to eddie because i know its a pain and i would not want someone to lose money over my pickyness its a tough bussiness. and doesnt need people like me wasting his time and money.

Learning Asus, please don't post in the ASUS forum again. You don't have much constructive to say. Berating the resellers does no good. My momma taught me "if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all." Post elsewhere, please.

I'm just gonna reply to this as someone who had worked in computer retail for a few years. First, one product experience should never constitute a blanket perception of a retailer, reseller, individual seller, etc. If you had a laptop that cra pped gold out of the DVD drive, you'd be singing Danny's praises. Perhaps something was wrong with your unit, but that is not a trump card to dump it on Danny.

As a seller, he provided to you a laptop that was one of thousands or more that have been produced. Sony, for example, has a reported rate of 16% for repairs or serious issues, and I'm sure this is under-reported. If out of 1,000 units 160 turn out to be defective and you happen to get one of those, its more of bad luck than poor service or quality (if you had a gateway I'd just say you bought a POS, but thats another story). When so many are produced, there is a rate of "acceptable" defects occurring. Keep in mind also that there are too many variables to slam Danny or ASUS for the performance of the laptop. A bad driver install, bad software, or any number of what may be seen as "minor" issues can really take down the performance of your machine.

I've gone on enough, so I'll stop here. While I've never personally purchased anything from CanadaSys/Danny, as a forum member I do know that he's provided us with a great deal of excellent information, insight, and opinions based upon experience. Similarly to Geared2Play and PROPortable (Eddie & Justin, respectively) they offer their time and service here because of their willingness to contribute to this forum and the common knowledge at large. So with that, please refrain from slandering anything or especially anyone as a result of a single experience. Who knows - had your Sony been #28 of those 160 defects, this post may have been in a different forum...

    Food for thought.

[Edit: aww, man, I can't say cr ap ped!]

SRD, I had been just glancing over this thread, and wasn't really compelled to reply until I read the comment about Danny. I was trying to stay out of this entire conversation, but felt compelled to respond at that point. I know there may be more to this issue than I've addressed, but I didn't want to get too entangled in the emotion/frustration in the thread :p
