I got mine from them friday and it was adata.

Anyone else have answers to the other questions I posted? -

Took my 1st Best Buy ux31a back... light bleed kinda bad... The one they gave me light bleed is almost non existent. Does have the SanDisk but pulls a 7.5 and I had it up next to my X11 powered ux31a and they are nearly identical at doing all the tasks.... I was originally pissed at not having the sandforce like my Amazon one but after comparing the two I feel fine with this one.

I keep telling my self that I will hardly if ever watch a movie on it in the dark, and that usually makes those fears go away. -
The idea of a lottery is very offsetting. I had to do the same with my Air...

-
Although I'm sure tomorrow I'll probably be the first
I also hope they only put the SanDisk in the lower model, I ordered the i7.
See the pattern? I just hope I get an ADATA drive -
I ordered a 31A from Amazon and it will be here tomorrow. I'm tempted not to even check the SSD and just use the darn thing. No need to obsess.
My main concern is dead pixels and terrible bleeding. I will be okay with a little bleeding, but if there is one dead/stuck pixel, it's going back. -
-
-
Oh well. I mean it's not going to be my main machine so I'm not going to obsess over it. Dead pixels on the other hand...that's not something I can begin to live with. -
Is the UX32VD DB71 in stock anywhere?
Newegg is out.
Amazon is out.
Xotic is out.
and no one knows when they will be receiving a new shipment -
For me it came back in stock within 2 days of placing the back-order. My UX32VD is arriving tomorrow. Their pricing and return policies are pretty good too. -
We now have two from BB. The one I got as a gift had the Sandisk drive. The one we picked up this morning has the ADATA.
Two observations:
1. The one we picked up today from best buy with the ADATA drive has a screen with multiple issues including bleed and uneven backlight.
2. Both machines boot up in a dead heat tie of 21 seconds. That's with the factory OS load. The WEI on the sandisk is 7.5 and the ADATA is 7.9 -
Hi all
I have an audio problem in my new ux32vd, two audio problems to be exact:
1)Internal sound card: When I listen to music, would it be YouTube, iTunes or WMP
I get some disturbance in the sound (short lagg). It usually happens when I start or
use my browser at the same time as I listen to the music. For example, when I listen
to music via iTunes\WMP and start Google Chrome or when I browse Facebook photos.
Sometimes it happens even when I open a folder, assuming that no other folders are
open from before or they are not used for a while.
2)External sound card: When I use My usb Creative External Sound Card to listen to
music via iTunes\WMP it disappers for ca. 1 sec and then reapears again. It happens also
when starting or using browser while listening to music.
Usually sound problems happen randomly. There is no pattern. For the most it is
combined with browsing like when you composing an e-mail, surfing the Internet etc.
I have already reinstalled and then updated sound drivers. Unfortunately, it did not help. I have
even used recovery partition to reinstall Windows to its default state, but the same
problem occured again.
I bought this laptop for 12 days ago and used it since last monday. I am really happy
about it, but I dislike this problem with the sound. It is quite annoying. Please help! -

btw for people that are having issues installing windows, make sure that usb legacy is on and the usb3.0 controller is on smart auto mode. -

-
-
Oh well. Looks like I'll be rolling the dice with Amazon. Crossing my fingers for ADATA and minimal light bleed. -
-
For those interested, it looks like ExcaliberPC has the UX31A-DB71 in stock. I've never ordered from ExcaliberPC before though so know nothing about their reliability.
-
dang all of these posts are getting me nervous about ordering it from bestbuy..i'll probably go to the store on monday and order it, does anyone know if i can specifiy that i want sandforce/adata? Like a "special instructions" that i can give..lol

has anyone noticed any difference between the best buy model and the ux31a-db71? all i have seen is the memory difference (normal vs low voltage) and a higher possibility of a sandisk. but for 200 bucks less and a free xbox, its hard to pass up.
-
For those who purchased from Best Buy, did it come with all the accessories Amazon includes? (sleeve, usb-to-ethernet, mini-hdmi-to-vga)

ASUS posted a new smart gesture driver today..somebody try it and let me know how it is
actually they posted multiple new drivers today.
-
-
oh I'm so sorry, my mistake. Sandisk ssds in general are quite crappy.
-
Just got my third UX31A-DB51 (i5, 128gb) from Amazon - it has a SanDisk SSD sticker on the box.
My first two units had unacceptable bleeding, the first had erratic fan spinning, and the second a broken ambient light sensor / inconsistent/missing keyboarding lighting.
The screen is the most important feature for me as a programmer and for DSLR photo editing. I'll report the WEI and any benchmarks I have soon. -
I was just getting ready to order a DB51, now I'm skeptical again. Please confirm whether your not device manager lists a Sandisk or a ADATA. Thanks!
-
Mine hasn't came yet.
-
Ahh crap amazon ux31a-ab71 with standisk sticker on the box.
-
The new touchpad driver launched today has fixed scrolling completely!
-
I seriously hope the new shipments weren't all sandisk.... damnit Asus this is ridiculous.
-
Well the sticker was right, Sandisk indeed. 7.5 on the windows index.
There is some minor lightbleed, I'm sure it would be exaggerated in the dark, but I'm OK with it.
The screen is spectacular though.
RE the Sandisk drive, I don't really want to roll the dice again, so I'll use this baby for a week or 2 and as long as I never say "man this thing is slow", I'll move on. It's just disappointing to know that I "lost" with my dice roll, knowing that it could be better.
The two finger scrolling on this thing is inverted from that of a Macbook, is there any way to change that? I'm use to my wife's MBA. -
Will get my comp tomorrow, gotten my Torx screwdriver but unfortunately no RAM-chip yet, so I'll just check the PC for flex/bleed etc before I think about any OC'ing. -
- ddr3 instead of ddr3lm like you mentioned.
- no 1 year accidental damage warranty
- no cable tie in box
- no cleaning cloth with manual
Basically they gimp the warranty so they can sell you theirs, and they skip a little on hardware and whats in the box to maximize profits assuming people will look to best buy instead of asus for support.
So far, I'm keeping the BB model, its the only one ive found (its my 3rd) that the screen isnt bad. -
7.5 score under Performance Information and Tools.
It feels as snappy as the ADATA models I had.
The screen appears to have quite minimal bleed in a well lit office with blinds drawn. I'll have to place it in a dark environment to verify. The radius and intensity of the minimal bleed areas appears to be less than half of previous sent back models.
Keyboard: The backlight on the 'u' key is weaker than the others and 'j' is a little weaker but hey.
This may be a keeper. Fingers crossed -
awesome, thanks. i think ill be going that route once it becomes available online again -
Just fired up a movie and I see absolutely no light bleed at all, the brightness is not at max. Man this screen is incredible! I sure feel old though because the text really is tiny.
I just updated the touchpad driver to the new one and noticed that I lost my two finger right click, I hope I can turn that back on. -
usb to ethernet, mini-hdmi-t-vga in little bag... yep.
cleaning cloth in with manual... nope
cable tie thingy... nope
